Vietnam’s
Aquaculture need to invest US $ 2.3 to 3.8 billion in 10 years
(2001-2010), including VND 3,060 billion in building fishing ship;
VND 2,562 billion in infrastructure in the coastal areas and islands;
VND 33,686 billion in sea raising (brackish water: VND 29,000
billion, fresh water: VND 5,200 billion); VND 3,200 billion in
processing.

Vietnam’s
Embassy in Washington has revealed that Agriculture Committee of US
House of Representatives, in the last week of July, 2001, has
rejected the marking requirement applied to beef and raised fish
advanced by Senator Thune. So, the draft law HR 2439 cannot be
applied to catfish of Vietnam.
